JavaScript Hell

February 3, 2013April 3, 2014 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

As I was about to start writing again, excited with my new ideas, the JavaScript course I'd signed up for months prior began. And just like that my spare time disappeared. Between family and work and the JavaScript course, my free time went down to near zero. Now the course is over and I'm trying… Continue reading JavaScript Hell →

Star Trek watching

January 29, 2013April 3, 2014 Mark Ladouceur1 Comment

Rewatching some Star Trek original series episodes over the past little while. When I received the remastered DVDs I watched all my favourite episodes. Recently I decided to watch some of the less impressive episodes (in my opinion). I started with The Man Trap, then Charlie X, Mudd's Women, What are Little Girls Made of,… Continue reading Star Trek watching →

The Writing

September 17, 2012April 3, 2014 Mark Ladouceur3 Comments

So after my post from December 2011, I made no further updates. Several friends and relations asked how the writing was going. I said at the time that it wasn't happening. Mostly because I don't want to be that guy who only talks about writing without doing any. But things were bubbling to the surface.… Continue reading The Writing →

GoodReads

September 17, 2012September 17, 2012 Mark Ladouceur2 Comments

Joined GoodReads and added a whack of books to my library. It's almost like a game. One author leads to another and friends' libraries remind me of more books I've read. Very good bit of design to make the user experience so easy and addictive.

Once upon a time

December 30, 2011April 3, 2014 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

Once upon a time I called myself a writer. That was 2 years ago now. I wrote a bunch of short stories, two of which were published; the rest of them were not. I wrote one first draft of a novel based on Star Trek. I wrote a second novel in a world of my… Continue reading Once upon a time →

Reading death. I mean dearth of reading.

April 18, 2011April 5, 2014 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

Wow, what happened to my reading habit? I can blame Twitter, Facebook and video games. I just haven't set aside much time to sit down and read. I've even fallen off with the list I use to track what I'm reading. Time to get back on that.

Close, but no cigar

Just by happenstance (vanity search) I found out that my novella, "Failure of Flesh" made the 1st Quarter Honorable Mention list for the Writers of the Future Contest. Link to the press release So that's nice, but looks like it won't see publication there. On to the next market then.

So, the writing

February 21, 2010June 30, 2010 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

Writing this past few months has been terrible. I could blame my job, for which I spent 2009 managing a team of writers and carrying twice the number of duties; or I could say I had to spend more time with my family because of our infant daughter (now a toddler). In the end though,… Continue reading So, the writing →

Books read since July

November 20, 2009 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

Surprising for me, but I've managed to finish only a handful of books since my earlier July post on reading. Watching Baseball Smarter, by Zack Hample Timeline, by Michael Chricton Designated Targets, by John Birmingham Final Impact, by John Birmingham Something tells me there must be more than these, but if so, I haven't logged… Continue reading Books read since July →
