"This is me writing." That's the best I could muster the other night, just to say I'd committed words to the medium. Each night I have the intention to write. And if it's not something related to work or my family, then it's a video game, or TV, or social media that I can point… Continue reading I wrote

JavaScript Hell
As I was about to start writing again, excited with my new ideas, the JavaScript course I'd signed up for months prior began. And just like that my spare time disappeared. Between family and work and the JavaScript course, my free time went down to near zero. Now the course is over and I'm trying… Continue reading JavaScript Hell
The Writing
So after my post from December 2011, I made no further updates. Several friends and relations asked how the writing was going. I said at the time that it wasn't happening. Mostly because I don't want to be that guy who only talks about writing without doing any. But things were bubbling to the surface.… Continue reading The Writing
Once upon a time
Once upon a time I called myself a writer. That was 2 years ago now. I wrote a bunch of short stories, two of which were published; the rest of them were not. I wrote one first draft of a novel based on Star Trek. I wrote a second novel in a world of my… Continue reading Once upon a time
Close, but no cigar
Just by happenstance (vanity search) I found out that my novella, "Failure of Flesh" made the 1st Quarter Honorable Mention list for the Writers of the Future Contest. Link to the press release So that's nice, but looks like it won't see publication there. On to the next market then.
So, the writing
Writing this past few months has been terrible. I could blame my job, for which I spent 2009 managing a team of writers and carrying twice the number of duties; or I could say I had to spend more time with my family because of our infant daughter (now a toddler). In the end though,… Continue reading So, the writing
Spelling counts
I found an interesting (to me) article on the effect bad spelling and grammar can have on a blog. http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/errors_by_bloggers_kill_credib.php
Over two straight weeks of productivity
I've just passed two straight weeks of writing. I've managed to get at least some time each day to either edit a short story, or write a bit more toward my novel. I'm hoping to keep up the pace, although part of it has been to dominate the leader-board on the writing tracking site I… Continue reading Over two straight weeks of productivity
So very, very close
I've worked the past 5 nights to finish edits on a short story, so far titled "Guardian of the Heart". Now I have just one last scene to rewrite and that'll be that. And right after it's done I can start edits to the novelette I drafted late last year.
He’s not dead yet
From the web site I use to track my writing progress, my output graph lately looks like a patient about to give up the ghost. I've only managed to get a hundred or so words once or twice a week for the past few months. But things are looking up! The patient isn't dead yet.… Continue reading He’s not dead yet
