A dearth of ideas

At this stage, ideas for stories, characters, and settings are still rare and precious things that flit through the cave of my mind and are gone if I don’t catch them immediately. At this point though, most of the ideas I’ll probably catch (to stick with the analogy) are probably not the highest quality.

What I have at the moment are:

  • fan fiction ideas
  • rewrites of movies or books that I thought could be better
  • trunk novels and short stories of mine
  • random bits of mental lint

Nonetheless, I need to catch them and breed them to have a healthy, usable flock.

I know that as I get writing more, they’ll become more frequent and easier to catch. It’s happened before when I wrote, and will again.
