Someone on horseback just rode through my suburban neighbourhood.

Again, long time no posts
But then I've been doing things around the house and I just feel too tired to think of much that's witty. So on with random updates: I did take advantage of the nice weather this past weekend to dig some drainage ditches in my backyard. With the clay and multitude of rocks this was not… Continue reading Again, long time no posts

Distracted by the shit
So far the only downside of my job is that I want to go to the company lunch room and socialize with my other workers. This isn't really a downside, except that it means I'm not reading or writing at lunch as I have with every other job in the past ten years. I have… Continue reading Distracted by the shit
Four days in and it’s going well
Hopefully I'm not being premature, but after four days on the new job I'm really liking it. I've already received more training in four days than in the past four years at others jobs, and there's more to come. The two other writers I'm working with have both been friendly and in some of the… Continue reading Four days in and it’s going well
Slight rebound
In the ongoing, but not necessarily interesting, saga of my career, I came home to find a request for a phone interview at a company I recently applied for. This balances out the rejection from earlier in the day.
The Good
Though it's Valentines Day and many on my LJ friends list don't have good feelings about it, I got something that was the bright spot in my day; a home-made valentines day card from my little girl! (Made with some help from her mom) I took it in to work and have it on my… Continue reading The Good
Been a while
So I've been busy lately. Lot's of little things and very little of an earthshaking nature. One big thing (literally) is our soon-to-be-arriving baby. At her most recent appointment Liz learned that said baby is on track to be at least 10 pounds. Apart from other baby-related preparation, I've been writing a short story, something… Continue reading Been a while
Is it the weekend yet?
Still stuck at work, looking across the highway to the airport. This weekend should be nice. Liz and I are off to Stratford on Saturday for our anniversary (5 years). We'll be seeing a play at the festival and going to our traditional hang-out for dinner. All that stands between us and a good weekend… Continue reading Is it the weekend yet?
The year so far
Commuting really blows Liz and I are out of the house far too long. It was worse in the winter; leaving when it was dark and coming home when it was dark. Since we're travelling about 65 km each way we're really racking up mileage on the car. It's close to running out of warranty… Continue reading The year so far
