Novel revisions

Spent all week alone at the cottage making notes and considering changes for the novel manuscript. Got a lot accomplished (having no one to talk to will do that). Wound up cutting about 100 pages worth of complete chapters from the manuscript. More deletions came in the form of specific passages and blocks of text… Continue reading Novel revisions →

Having finished reading the manuscript for "Corruption of Power" (working title) I am considering how to proceed. Julie Czerneda (an excellent author) offered to read the second draft! WOOHOO!

Time to review

June 24, 2002February 27, 2009 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

It was time to go back and read the first draft in its entirety. Took the weekend up north and a few days after to finish it. Overall, I'm pleased with it. It starts strongly, but I can see where in the writing process that I only had one more month left and a lot… Continue reading Time to review →

I’M DONE!

May 3, 2002February 27, 2009 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

Well, I finished the first draft of the novel last night (May 2). It currently weighs in at 429 pages (107,250 words). Just in time for the last day of my leave from work. Reached page 400 on the 25th (about 100,000 words). Then things slacked off again until today when I was able to work out some necessary details. I'm now ready to bring the first draft to its conclusion.

Hit page 360 (90,000 words) by going through 16 pages in one day. That's the second highest single day output so far.

A major change in the plot. I tightened up the entire last section of the book. It took most of the day, so I only put out 5 pages (reaching 344).

Novel progress

April 10, 2002February 27, 2009 Mark LadouceurLeave a comment

It is April 10 as I write this. The manuscript stands at 305 pages today (just over 75,000 words). In terms of the plot outline, I'm two thirds done and have three and a half weeks left. I'm feeling a little anxious. I lost most of yesterday and part of today making a decision on… Continue reading Novel progress →
