After a weekend up north with friends, I come back to the work week with about 40 pages of edits and 1,000 new words.
I finished transcribing my new 1,000-word short story into electrons yesterday. I'm looking forward to making an editing pass through it soon and sending it out to readers for critique.
I spent this past weekend writing at the cottage. The weather for mid-late April was fantastic; warm and sunny without much wind. So nice in fact that I spent the bulk of my time writing outside near the lake with either a beer or coffee. During breaks I watched the ice breaking up out on… Continue reading Location, location, location
I'm back from a weekend up north and very satisfied with what I accomplished. First: I finished my short, short horror story. Now I need to transcribe it into bits and bytes. At least with this length that should be a minor task. Second: I made pages and pages of progress on a longer work… Continue reading Productivity!
I've been engaged in a long quest to free a land from the scourge of pixelated evil. It's been hard on my thumbs, and earned many eye rolls from my wife. And I'm still not done. But then I've been doing things around the house and I just feel too tired to think of much that's witty. So on with random updates: I did take advantage of the nice weather this past weekend to dig some drainage ditches in my backyard. With the clay and multitude of rocks this was not… Continue reading Again, long time no posts
So far the only downside of my job is that I want to go to the company lunch room and socialize with my other workers. This isn't really a downside, except that it means I'm not reading or writing at lunch as I have with every other job in the past ten years. I have… Continue reading Distracted by the shit
I've managed to do a bit of writing the past two days during my lunch hour. I'm hoping I can make this a habit until the deadlines get too crazy to allow it.
Looking back over the year it's been an up and down year. On a high note we finally moved out of the hated condo (hated by me) and into a nice house. We had a great trip to London this summer. The last of the Lord of the Rings movie came out and fulfilled my… Continue reading Year-end Highlights & Lowlights
